Aloft and Element Hotels, In Boston’s Seaport
We’re enjoying a February vacation city break at a great and relatively new hotel, the Element Seaport Boston. Up on the sixth floor, we’ve got a suite with a full kitchen and a comfy living room.
Unfortunately, the only view out the big window is of the vast parking lot. There is also a building room with more solar panels than I’ve ever seen atop a building’s roof. Out the hall window, you can see the channel that leads to Boston harbor.
As soon as we got here, we settled in and then took an Uber over to Fanueil Hall. It was crowded with shoppers and people circled around a group of men who were doing acrobatics and pulling people out from the crowd to join them in the game.
We entered Quincy Market and were overwhelmed by the array of different foods, heavy on the seafood. I ended up with lobster bisque inside a bread bowl, and Mary got Japanese.
The Aloft and Element are Starwood Preferred hotels, and front desk supervisor Alexandra Legere told me that Aloft’s are often built next to Elements. Two different style hotels, same owner.
What I like about the Element is the Scandinavian feel, open, airy, and lots of natural light. The rooms have sleek and modern design, and it’s quality.
The have two bikes guests can borrow for free, and they offer a happy hour from 5:30-8 weeknights that their airline employee guests really enjoy.
This hotel lobby contrasts with Aloft, which has a round check-in counter and a pool table, with low light in the evening and a much cooler vibe. Both hotels have very high occupancy rates, the night in February when we stayed here it was 100 percent full.
