Houseguests Are One of My Favorite Things

I come from a long line of people who enjoy having guests visit for the weekend. Houseguests we call them, people who come with suitcases and intend on hanging around for longer than the typical visit. This weekend I enjoyed having my houseguests Sony Stark and her partner George. It was a memorable time, I was able to pack quite a bit into our schedule, leaving everyone drained but happy.
Being a retired guy, I expected to see them during the day on Friday. But most people have to do things like work, so when Sony’s text indicated a 6 pm arrival, I breathed a sigh of relief. I just had to have dinner all squared away to concentrate on being with my guests. I take that quite seriously, my friends are important.

I took the dinner idea from a party a few weeks back with my sister Brown. We set up a taco bar. This was a good plan since my guest list for Friday night was still a bit fluid. I love that part too, people calling and saying they’re coming at the last minute. I always want everyone to come, so the more the merrier. I am lucky to have a house that can accommodate as many people as I would invite, we never have to play musical chairs.
We did it all…started with teaching them pickleball at the DRP, then hiked up Sugarloaf, then visited Easthampton, then the Peace Pagoda and finally Tree House Brewing to wrap it up. Great fun, so glad they made the trip. More houseguests to come!
