Pickleball, Where Have You Been All My Life?

Man, oh man, do I love this sport. It’s surprising to me that I heard about this so long ago, a relative was sharing on Facebook about this game they played down in South Carolina.  Never did it; didn’t know. Then, my town of Deerfield used the Community Preservation Fund tax to upgrade eight courts at the elementary school and turn them into pickleball courts.

So my experimentation began last summer when I’d show up on Saturday morning to play with locals.  But often, I’d go over to the school to find empty courts. Now that we have the Deerfield Railyard Pickleball, I’ve fallen in with a great band of six to eight other players, so we can play every weekday.

And Saturdays at the DERP, as it’s known, right next to the railroad tracks in Deerfield, it’s busy. But not too busy.

And more and more players are coming during weekdays; all we need is four! I am so glad to have this new outlet, and now it’s a year-round affair. Pickleball is so great!
