Art in the Orchard is Back in Easthampton

Every two years, an apple orchard in Easthampton gets a big shot of visitors.

It’s the fourth season of Art in the Orchard, an event that pairs the work of 30 sculptors from the Pioneer Valley and beyond, who exhibit their work along the meandering path through a beautiful Western Massachusetts orchard. It’s the perfect twilight stroll, and I highly recommend you put it on your calendar!

Jean-Pierre Pasche owns a frame shop in Easthampton, He and his hardworking committee have been bringing together the artists in the orchard since the first event six years ago.  

It’s a low-key affair, no admission cost, just a few places where you can make donations.  But it makes for a wonderful outing; combine the beautiful stillness of late summer and the colors of the fall and maybe some friends and a bottle of wine.

We have strolled the path three times in the past–each time the event has had a stand-out piece that makes you think and makes you remember.  The show in 2015, for example, had a piece that was positively haunting, called Song of the Birth of the Stars, by Mark Fenwick.

Everyone will come away with their own personal faves, as they walk along the path and in and out of the nearby woods, and back up to the farmhouse.

The event was organized by the AiO’17 organizing committee: Alane Hartley and Russell Braen, owners of Park Hill Rd, Serafina Restaino, Matt Waugh, Janet Weber, Melissa Caldwell, Jean-Pierre Pasche.

This event is made possible thanks to the help of many local volunteers, the Park Hill Orchard staff; and also in part thanks to a grant from Easthampton City Arts, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
