Tomorrow I Fly to Quito, then to Cuenca Ecuador

I haA church in Quito, Ecuador. Photo by Sloane Travel Photography.ve a familiar feeling of a combination of dread and anticipation because tomorrow morning I’ll catch a flight from Boston to Atlanta. Then after a layover, I’ll fly to Quito Ecuador, and at 10 pm Tuesday night I’ll be in a new country, one that I’ve never visited before.

That’s a great part of any trip–a totally new discovery.  I will be attending the Travel Mart Latin America, which brings hundreds of tourism professionals and tour operators together for three days of talking, sharing and exchanging. I’ll take a city tour of Quito and later in the week, I”ll fly to Cuenca for a four day press junket.

Ecuador is best known as the home of the Galapagos. Most of the tourists who come want to go see the boobies, and all the other birdlife famous in the islands.  But I am pleased to see what looks like a very pretty city, Quito, and an up and coming destination, Cuenca.

I will share photos and stories of the people I meet and the places I go, right here.  Looking forward to having you along for the trip!
