Confined to Bed, With All of My Toys and My Cat
So now that I’ve had five screws inserted into my fifth metatarsal, I’m settling in here for a long period of ….well, not walking. I got a nice comment from a guy named Bob Hale on my blog who reaffirmed that with a foot injury, there is really only one thing to do…and that is to get that foot up. Thinking back on how I live my life, I realized that I am constantly popping up and down and running here and there.
Not this week. I have everything I could possibly need here in my man-cave. I am on the laptop, connected to friends, family and part of work. I have my phone, giving me text messages and Facebook updates. I have my music, songs I’ve recently downloaded that I have been wanting to listen to. And best of all, I have my wonderful partner Mary who is with me to help me out, keep me company and enjoy some time off her feet too.
When I think about the location of this injury…the very bottom of my body, where all of my 200 pounds of weight press down on during any time I’m off my feet, it makes me doubly determined to follow this regimen. I passed up a trip to India this week, and my next venture is to Estonia and Lithuania. I am hoping that by heeding the doc’s orders by the book for the next 22 days, I can make it on the plane to discover these as yet undiscovered countries.
