Asparagus Festival: Let’s Celebrate the Stalk!
Hadley is indeed the world’s asparagus capital. We drove past this truck while passing through the town of Hadley right across from where the annual WGBY Asparagus Festival will take place in about three weeks.
Last year we enjoyed walking through the many arts and crafts booths right here, and across Route 9, there will be a joyous culinary celebration of the famous spear. There will be craft beer, music, lots of interesting hand made art to buy, and lots of fun people enjoying the best weather of the year. The food is different this year–it will be a little more accessible, since it will be a luncheon and not a dinner.
Although it will still include the great chefs and their amazing ideas about preparing asparagus, it will be a less expensive more inclusive affair. There will still be great wine pairings, and creative food, and the wonderful setting of that sprawling barely-ever-used Hadley Common, on the other side of Route 9, behind Esselon. At the fest there are lots of crafts, beer from Lefty’s Brewing, and the big luncheon. It’s a celebration of Hadley and its most famous crop, all day long.
I hope to see you there!
