A Fine Day to Turn 64: Birthday Cruise on the Scenic Eclipse
A Birthday Gift for the Ages! Traveling in Luxury on the Pacific
I can’t think of a better way to celebrate my sixty-fourth birthday than setting out to sea on a cruise aboard a luxury yacht, the Scenic Eclipse, in South America. I can’t even think of any adjectives I’d need to add. This trip has so much that I love. My good friends Tim and Donna Leffel, my two good friends Jeanne and Elliot Gillies, and the most magnificent cruise ship afloat today, with only 50 or so passengers aboard the 200-passenger, 500 foot vessel.
I’ve been hearing about this gorgeous, over the top Scenic luxury ship since I first cruised with Elliot and Jeanne in 2021. They kept saying it was over the top, and I kept thinking, “I’ve gotta get on this ship and write about it!”
And so, on my birthday, as I celebrate my 64th year, I am indeed about to board the Eclipse and set sail down the coast of South America.
Scenic is a really top of the line cruise operator, this will be my third trip with them each one has been magnificent, including the Duoro River cruise in 2021 and the Netherlands journey of 2022.
I always love a sea journey, in fact some of my favorite words are vessel, voyage, aircraft and coach. So I am super, super excited that I made this journey happen and I just can’t wait to share lots of details with you all over the next eight days.

Well what a great idea to be able to combine your birthday celebration with such a voyage that you love so much. Your enthusiasm is what’s over the top and is a welcomed emotion especially in this day and age. You certainly are living while you’re alive and that’s a great thing.
