Heading to Maine and New Brunswick Canada on Saturday

It’s the first rainy day in many many weeks, and I was very happy inside when I looked outside to see that gentle shower.  A first rainy day in a while makes me contemplative, and makes me think about which of the myriad thoughts that run through my brain are the ones I want to write about.  Having a blog demands an editor’s sensibilities; what to delete, what really deserves to be written about, and what is actually interesting to someone other than me.

I know sometimes i choose somewhat esoteric topics, but I hope I have remained compelling. Though I must say I was bruised when one of my most regular readers admitted he no longer included Readuponit on his regular internet rounds.  I gotta up my game I guess.

I’m excited about a lot of trips that are coming up. On Saturday morning, we’ll set out on a drive east to the Maine coast, to the summer town of Ogunquit.  I’ve been there a few times but never stayed over.  The next day we’ll explore the beach and then head north later in the afternoon to Bar Harbor. Then we wake up really early and drive to Campobello Island, where we are going to an Eleanor Roosevelt tea.  Can’t be late!

Then we are going to St Andrews, and later in the week, over to Grand Manan island, which I think will be rustic but I’m not sure exactly what it will be like.  I like a mystery.
