Greenfield’s T-shirt: Wilson’s Is Our Wal-Mart
In Greenfield yesterday, speaker Peter Kageyama showed us slides of great tee shirts designed to promote cities around the US during his presentation at the Creative Economy Summit. “Keep Austin Weird.” ” Cleve LAND that I love.”
Then he challenged the room to come up with the perfect tee shirt slogan that describes their Franklin County town. On each table was an over-sized blank tee-shirt template and we set to work, trying to nail down just what exactly our shirt should say. We were a banker, a restaurant owner, a planner for the city of North Adams and others and we threw out ideas and batted topics back and forth.
At the other tables, similar work was being done. Someone picked out artwork using their iPad, hey, here’s the photo of Franklin on the hundred dollar bill. Yes, he’s the county’s namesake…
When the exercise was over, the cleverness and appropriateness of the many slogans was remarkable. How about these t-slogans:
Greenfield: Wilson’s Is Our Wal-Mart
Franklin County (said drawing of Ben) Makes Cents
Shelburne Falls: Flower Power (with the familiar three arches)
Kick Ash in Ashfield
