Coming Soon to the Sky Above Afghanistan
Have you heard about the giant blimp that will soon be deployed 20,000 feet above Afghanistan? It’s made by Northrop Grumman and it’s a seven-story, football-field sized blimp that can stay up for three weeks at a time. And it positively bristles with electronic survelliance antennae, sensors, and other intelligence equipment. It’s called the Long Endurance Multi-intelligence Vehicles.
It will have so much computing power that all of the data, or the best of, will be transmitted down to troops on the battlefield every 15 seconds. It filters all of that immense pool of data right up there. The problem is now that it’s all sent back to the US, and some guy in a remote hanger then relays it to the field.
